Vladimir Aleksandrovich Mau holds a Doctor of Economics and is a Professor and honored economist of the Russian Federation.  He was born on December 29, 1959 in the city of Moscow. Vladimir Mau graduated from Moscow Institute of National Economics named after G. V. Plekhanov in 1981. He carried out scientific researches in the Institute of Economics of the USSR Academy of Sciences, the Institute for Economic Policy of the Academy of National Economy, and Institute of Transition Period Economic Problems. Since 1991 he has been participating in the development and practical implementation of the Russian economic reforms’ course, including the work as the Council of the Chairman of the Russian Federation Government within the period of 1992-1993.

In 2002 he became the Rector of the Academy of National Economy of the Russian Government (ANE), and in 2010 the Rector of the newly-formed Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA).

V.A. Mau is a famous specialist in the field of economic theory, history of economic thought, and national economy. He is an author of 25 monographs, books, and teaching aids issued in Russia and the Great Britain, and of over 600 booklets and articles (in the Russian, English, French, German, and Italian languages). He is a chairman of the Expert Board under the Government Commission for Economic Development and Integration, a member of Commission on Assessing the Effectiveness of Federal and Regional Bodies of Executive Authority, the Government Committee on Administrative Reform, a member of the Presidium of the Russian Presidential Council for Science, Technology, and Education, a member of the Russian Federation Presidential Commission for Federal Pool of High Potential Managers, and of many others.
